St Davids Kitchen is proud to announce it iS the first independent business in St Davids to be accredited as a Living Wage Employer. Our Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at St Davids Kitchen receive a minimum hourly wage of £8.75 or higher. It joins national bank Lloyds as the only other Living Wage Employer in St Davids.
The real Living Wage is the only rate calculated according to the costs of living. It provides a voluntary benchmark for employers that wish to ensure their staff earn a wage they can live on, not just the government minimum. Since 2011 the Living Wage movement has delivered a pay rise to over 150,000 people and put over £600m extra into the pockets of low paid workers. The rate is significantly higher than the government minimum for over 25s, which currently stands at £7.83 per hour.
Neil Walsh, owner of St Davids Kitchen said, “We’re really pleased to become accredited by the Living Wage Foundation, we really value our staff and recognise the contribution that they make to our business success. We think it’s really important that everyone is paid at a fair rate, and so we offer the Living Wage Rate for all of our staff, including under 18 year olds and young people we have on our apprenticeship.”
